To play:
Open your mobile app or go directly to the Play Area in your browser. Log in if you haven't already.
Choose Play Now in the play menu or in the menu at the upper left.
There are several ways to start a game in the play area.
- In the New Game tab, you can answer open or direct challenges, join the auto-pairing pools or create custom challenges.
- In the Players tab, you can directly challenge specific players.
- In the Play Bots tab, you can play against different bot personalities or against the Stockfish engine at various levels.
New Game Tab
Select the New Game tab.
Choose an open or direct challenge to play that game.
Tap/click the preset buttons to be auto paired in a game with that time control. (You can choose more than one)
Choose the Custom button to create a challenge with custom time controls and parameters.
For a Custom Challenge -
Select your desired time control, rating range, piece color and whether the game will be rated, then tap/click the Create button to issue your custom challenge.
Tap/click the X next to your own challenge if you need to cancel it.
Players Tab
Select the Players Tab.
Browse or search the players list, then tap/click on the player you wish to challenge.
Select your desired preset or custom time control, piece color and whether the game will be rated, then tap/click the Create button to issue your direct challenge.
Play Bots Tab
Select the Play Bots Tab.
For Bot Personalities:
Choose the bot personality you would like to play against.
Tap/click the Play button to start the game using the default time control & settings.
Tap/click the Custom button, adjust the time control & piece color, then select the Play button to start the game using those different settings.
For the engine:
Select the Stockfish button to play against the engine.
Tap/click the Play button to start the game using the default time control, playing strength & settings.
Tap/click the Custom button, adjust the time control, playing strength & piece color then tap/click the Play button to start the game using those different settings.
While Playing
Use the game controls to resign, flip the board, offer a draw or offer an abort.
After the game
Choose the Rematch button to challenge your opponent to another game with the same time control.
Choose the New Game button to return to the New Game tab to find another opponent.
