Rules :: Learning how the King moves 

Here is a set of diagrams showing the different movements of the King, every possible move is indicated with an arrow.  When the King is in the center of the board, it can move to 8 different squares

When the King is in the corner it can only move to 3 different squares.

As we can see from these diagrams the King can move to all adjacent squares.
